شارل هادون سبورغيون (19 حزيران/يونيه 1834[1] - 31 كانون الثاني/يناير 1892) كان واعظاً معمدياً خاصاً بالإنكليزية. (سبورغيون) ما زال مؤثراً جداً بين المسيحيين من مختلف الطوائف، وبعضهم يعرف باسم "برنس الواع". لقد كان شخصاً قوياً في التقاليد المعمدانية دافعاً عن الإعتراف المعمداني في (فيث) في (لندن) عام 1689 ومعارضاً للميول الليبرالية والعملية في الكنيسة في يومه Spurgeon was pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. [2][3] He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later he left the denomination over doctrinal convictions. [4][5] While at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, he built an Almshouse and the Stockwell Orphanage. He encouraged his congregation to engage actively with the poor of Victorian London. لقد أسس أيضاً كلية (سبورغيون) التي سُمّيت من بعده Spurgeon authored sermons, an autobiography, commentaries, books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, and hymns.[6][7] Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. He is said to have produced powerful sermons of penetrating thought and precise exposition. He oratory skills are said to have held his listeners spellbound in the Metropolitan Tabernacle, and many Christians hold his writings in exceptionally high regard among devotional literature. [8]
