Choose The Right Bus!
Choose The Right Bus!
We can travel by bus almost anywhere in the cities surrounding Khartoum, Sudan. At major road junctions, buses drop off passengers, while the drivers’ assistants shout the names of places their buses are headed. Where we end up is decided by which bus we get on.
“Which bus we get on” is also an important thought on a wider scene. There are many directions a person can take in life. The choices we make determine our future situation. When my wife and I had tea with our neighbor, we learned that she wanted to become a medical doctor. Her future goal governed her present choices for university study.
This principle is also true in our spiritual life: The way we go and where we end up will be decided by “which bus we get on.” A lot of people think all religions are the same, and that people who follow them will all end up in the same place. This is definitely not true!
For example, even a basic comparison between Islamic and Christian views of Jesus shows big differences. Islam sees Jesus as a prophet who taught good things, but who did not die on the cross, and whose teaching was later superseded. Christianity believes Jesus is the Son from God, the complete revelation of God Himself and the Savior of all who believe. Our way of life and our eternal destiny depend on which route we choose.
Improved bus shelters in our city offer sign boards showing where each bus will take you. It’s up to you to decide which bus to take. Your journey through life and into eternity begins when you choose the right “bus.” Choose the only one you are sure will take you to heaven. We can show you how! Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Jn. 14:6).
