Unto Us A Child Is Born
A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
Unto Us A Child Is Born
Come let us sing this happy morn
That unto us a Child is born
So let our praises ring to Heaven
That unto us a Son is given.
See how He lies as shepherds throng
In answer to the angels’ song
Around the royal manger-bed
Where Jesus gently rests His head!
The Mighty God of light and love
The Word made flesh come from above
Lies humbly in a manger laid
The Prince of Peace born of a maid.
Of virgin born the promised Seed
As ancient prophecy decreed.
The Christ who must crush Satan’s head
When Jesus risen from the dead
Has broken death’s enchaining bands
To sit enthroned at God’s right hand.
Yet He who rose in power again
Must wash the feet of fishermen
The King who was a king when born
Must wear the crown of piercing thorns
Anointed not to rule till He
Should serve in all humility.
The Prince who came in peace to save
Must suffer as a Hebrew slave
Must languish on a Roman cross
To save us from eternal loss.
Ah, how serene, how sweetly mild
Within the crib there lies the Child!
Who came not to destroy our race
But to redeem us from disgrace.
He shall not strive nor cry aloud
But dumbly face the screaming crowd.
He who was born of virgin womb
Must issue from the fragrant tomb
And passing through the foe’s domain
All pride of princely power disdain
With open show of might displayed
For He must reign till God has made
The throne above His royal seat
And death the footstool of His feet.

“For unto us a child is born
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
