A Time For Everything
“I commend to you ... my co-workers in Christ ... who worked very hard for you.” — Romans 16:1,3,6 NIV
While my wife and I were studying Solomon’s Ecclesiastes together last winter, God used these words from the wisest man in the world to get our attention: “There is a time for everything” (Eccl. 3:1). We prayed together and agreed that the time had come for me to step down as editor of Grace & Truth Magazine.
God confirmed this decision through a set of circumstances that led to Paul Alberts, a co-worker, expressing his desire to take up the work. We have served together for 20 years, so I know well his devotion to the Lord and to G&T’s mission.
As I step down, I want you to know that producing this monthly magazine is not a one-man job. In Romans 16:1-16 Paul referred to his many “co-workers” who “worked very hard” to help him, and I would like to remind you of those who help put G&T Magazine into the hands of readers in so many countries around the world. I begin with currently 37 writers from nine countries who contribute approximately 140 articles each year. They do so under the watchful eye of an Editorial Committee of advisors who endeavor to keep the magazine pointed in the right direction.
I also want to bring to mind our proofreaders who work behind the scenes each month to make sure that every Bible reference is accurate and every sentence readable. Then there are those who lay out and design each issue so attractively, as well as those who print and collate it so carefully. Finally I want to remember those who communicate with our many readers, maintain the mailing lists and see to the delivery of both individual and bulk copies to subscribers all over the world.
As this season ends for me, I give thanks for the years that I have been able to serve you, our readers, and I pray that you continue to be blessed by Grace & Truth Magazine.
