At His Feet
At His Feet
“And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard His word.” Luke 10:39 KJV
“Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet.” John 11:32
“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus.” John 12:3
This woman named Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, was indeed a noble follower of Jesus. She was the only person at that time who recognized the real purpose of the Lord’s coming into this world (Jn. 12:7-8).
Therefore it is no wonder that she was found at His feet these three times mentioned in the above verses. We might say that she was at His feet learning, leaning, and loving.
Learning: She listened to His word even while her sister Martha served (Lk. 10:39).
Leaning: She entrusted herself to His goodness even though her brother Lazarus was dead (Jn. 11:32).
Loving: She showed her love by anointing Him with that costly ointment even though some thought it a waste (Jn. 12:3).
How often are we found “at His feet”?

Low at Thy feet, this is the place for me;
Here I have learned deep lessons,
Truth that has made me free.
