One Bible’s Diary
ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE NEW YEAR
One Bible’s Diary
January – My owner got me as a Christmas present. He read me daily the first week, but then lost interest. Why’d he start in Genesis?
February – He started going to Sunday school and carrying me to class. The teacher told him to read John’s gospel. And he did!
March – My cross references to the “Lamb of God” led him to Exodus 12. He read about how the lamb’s blood protected God’s people.
April – He discovered my concordance, cross references, notes and charts. And he used them while reading Matthew’s gospel.
May – He found my chart entitled “Harmony Of The Gospels” and has been looking up verses every day. He’s getting my message.
June – A friend gave him a tract entitled “Christ In Prophecy.” He looked up every reference. He gets it: Christ died for his sins.
July – His Sunday school class started studying Acts. He sees how the Church got started, what it is and how’s he’s part of it.
August – He read about baptism in the early chapters of Acts, and my cross references and notes convinced him to be baptized.
September – His study of the Church and baptism got him reading the Epistles. Now I can teach him how to live the Christian life.
October – He also met Paul in Acts, and is now discovering in his epistles that Christ is the perfect example for him to follow.
November – He’s been reading about the problems of the early Church in the Epistles, and the importance of love in overcoming them.
December – His study of God’s love led him to the Christmas story. John 3:16 has special meaning for him now: “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
