He Bled!

He Bled!
We all suffer cuts and scrapes. As soon as we see that we are bleeding, we usually take action to deal with the situation, since we know our very life depends on that blood! When others are injured, we may act differently.
In competition or battle, seeing the blood of the “enemy” is not likely to bother a person very much; in fact it may spur him on to further action. A person may see a chance for victory! The Roman soldiers, who were occupying Israel, under the direction of Pilate scourged Jesus and crowned Him with thorns (Jn. 19:1-2; Mt. 27:27-30). Later, the Lord Jesus Christ was nailed to a wooden cross through His hands and feet (Ps. 22:16). Those crucifying Jesus thought they had won. But we know the real victory was His even as He bled in your place and mine.
When we see our loved ones bleeding, our concern tends to increase according to the injury. We may be able to empathize with Mary, the mother of Jesus, who in great sorrow watched her firstborn son bleed while nailed to that horrible cross (Lk. 2:35; Jn. 19:25-26). In feebleness, we can only wonder at the thoughts of the heavenly Father, because He knew the depth of His Son's suffering as Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Mt. 27:46 NKJV).
This month’s Feature articles present the value and power of the blood. May the Lord use them to stir our hearts and remind us of the preciousness of His blood. He bled for you – what effect does that have on your life?
