“I Am The Way”

One of these days you and I will leave this world – maybe sooner than we think. Do you know the way to heaven?

Many well-meaning people assume they will get to heaven by doing good or by being good, by going to church or by being religious. They hope to earn heaven by something they can do or be – but that is not God’s way. As good as these things are in themselves, they are not the way to heaven!

The way to heaven is Jesus. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Jn. 14:6 NKJV).

One sin shut Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden forever, and even just one sin will shut you out of heaven forever – unless you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Have you trusted Him? If not, why not now? Satan says, “Wait awhile.” God says, “Now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2).

In the Bible God tells us of only two places where everyone will spend eternity. One is hell. “Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15). “But the … unbelieving … shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (21:8). “These will go away into everlasting punishment” (Mt. 25:46), “to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched – where ‘their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched’” (Mk. 9:3-44).

The other eternal place is heaven, where the Lord Jesus is and where all those who have received Christ as their Savior will be. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (Jn. 14:1-3). “In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps. 16:11).

When Jesus was on earth He said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mt. 11:28). “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (Jn. 6:37). Jesus, the risen Savior, is eager today to have sinners come to Him with all their sins and their needs, just as He was when He was here on earth.

If, as a sinner, you will come to Jesus and trust Him as your Savior, God’s Word guarantees that your sins will be forgiven. “Whoever believes in Him will receive remission [forgiveness] of sins” (Acts 10:43) – and you will go to heaven. The way to heaven is Jesus; there is no other!We can tell you more.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).
