Most of “Remembering My Creator Since My Youth” first appeared as a series of articles in Scripture Truth magazine from 2009 to 2014.
Anyone looking for a comprehensive examination from the Scriptures of God as the Creator need not look any farther. Mr. Anderson states in the Introduction, “This book is not primarily about the ‘science versus the Bible’ debate ... It is about the more important matter of what the Bible, the Word of God, teaches about creation, and why we believers must hold to this doctrine in an increasingly materialistic and secular world.”
Knowledge of creation for most Christians is limited to Genesis 1 and that is certainly a good start, but it is only the beginning. “It runs like bedrock under the Bible from Genesis to Revelation,” writes Mr. Anderson in the beginning of Chapter 1, entitled “Is It Necessary To Believe In Biblical Creation?” (I noticed in Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance that create, created, creation and Creator appear about 65 times in the Bible.) He maintains that the Bible presents basic truths about God and creation, Christ and creation, the Gospel and creation, Christian doctrine and creation, “things to come” and creation and judgment and creation. These six topics are discussed briefly in Chapter 1 and expounded upon throughout the book.
“Remembering My Creator Since My Youth” is divided up into six parts and sixteen chapters. The parts are:
- The Fundamentals,
- Biblical Teaching About Creation,
- Creation In The Old Testament,
- Creation In The New Testament,
- Creation In The Psalms,
- Creation To Come, and
- Creation Postscript.
Throughout the book Mr. Anderson covers many Scriptures in which God declares His sovereign rights over His creation. Also this amazing and complex creation is a demonstration of His mighty power and wisdom. If He can by His omnipotence call all things including life into existence, then He is well able to keep His promises – not only promised blessing to His people but promised judgment to those who ultimately reject His authority.
In the last part, entitled “Creation Postscript,” Mr. Anderson addresses some of the current theories regarding the material universe. Some people claim that science has all the answers, however many of their answers, especially on origins, are based on mere speculation. The biblical answer, which depends on revelation, stands apart from all other so-called scientific answers. “An ‘answer’ which relies on pure speculation hardly deserves that status.” The theory of macroevolution, which is impossible to test, certainly falls into that category, but it is taught and promoted today as scientific truth.
David Anderson is a regular contributor to Christian magazines and is a member of the Truth For Today broadcasts’ team. He worked in the active pharmaceutical ingredient sector of the chemical industry for over 40 years as an analytical chemist, then in quality management and finally as a pharmaceutical consultant.
