“I am a Christian with a heavy heart. Please, can you give me some words of comfort?”

QUESTION: I am a Christian with a heavy heart. I have had to withdraw from university. Apart from that, several kinds of trials abound which time and space will not allow me to tell. Worst of all, it seems that God is far away and doesn’t hear me. I am so weighed down. Please, can you give me some words of comfort?
ANSWER: As I was reading through your predicament, what at first came to my heart was the apostle Paul’s message to the people of Athens: “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:24-30 NKJV ).
Here we find that God is not far from every one of us. God is not far from you. Most times we suffer because we do not know Him. How important it is if you do not know Him that you turn to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, without allowing yourself to be terrified by any antics of the devil.
To those who know the Lord it is said that God delivers them from the “power of darkness” (Col. 1:13). Whatever may have been against you in the past, by holding on to the Head, who is Jesus Christ, such things will be taken out of your way for He has nailed them to His cross (2:13-15). Do you believe this?
Your life and your heart belong to the Lord. Allow Him to have His rightful place in your heart. Do not meditate on those terrifying things you have heard or those things that have happened to you already. A closer walk with Christ will repay you much more!
Read Colossians 1:14-23: “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight – if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.”
Did you notice that powers, dominions and principalities were created by Him who is the Head of the body, the firstborn from among the dead? There is no power of darkness that can withstand His authority!
I strongly beg you to be reconciled to God through His Son – settle your dispute with Him that you may be in agreement with Him in what He is allowing to take place. Then you will have peace in your heart with God.
God has a plan for your life and it is important that you seek His will. Ask Him to show you what He would have you do and patiently wait for His answer.
If God then be for you, who can be against you? Nobody!
