ALWAYS CARRY A COPY OF
Grace & Truth Magazine
Recently I went out to get a price for some picture glass at a frame shop. The owner was on the phone so I browsed around until she was free. After looking up the price, she saw my Grace & Truth Magazine and said, “That looks interesting.” I said I knew the editor, and then told her about Grace & Truth Publishers, and how they sent free Christian literature all over the world.
She told me that as a child her parents took her to a church where the preaching was all about sin. She said she promised herself that when she left home at 18 she’d never set foot in a church like that again! She kept that promise and now attended a liberal church with a woman priest.
Beginning where she was, and without any criticism, we talked about such topics as: how God revealed Himself in the Bible; the person and work of Jesus Christ; the difference between religion and relationship. I told her about the Savior and how she could know forgiveness for her sins, be freed from guilt, and have the secure hope of heaven when she died.
She was fascinated by my story of how I received Christ at 13, and asked me more questions. I asked her to consider what she was going to do with Jesus – who He was, what He came to do and His being the only way to Heaven.
She said she was not yet ready to pray and receive Christ, so I encouraged her to think about our conversation. I told her that if she did ask Jesus into her heart and life, He would come and she would be saved. Then I prayed for her.
This discussion took place right at her counter, with her asking questions and listening to my answers as well as my invitation. And it all happened because I was carrying a copy of Grace & Truth Magazine.
