Author Warren Henderson, a retired aerospace engineer, begins his examination of the truth of the Bible by quoting Albert Einstein’s sobering comment about the relative truth of science: “One thing I’ve learned in a long life – that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike.” This booklet does not denigrate scientific truth, but points out its limitations when compared to biblical truth as verified by archeology, astronomy, cosmology and historical records.
Henderson’s arguments that the Bible is divine truth are clearly set forth in nine chapters: Truth Doesn’t Argue With Itself; Archeology Agrees With The Bible; Science Agrees With The Bible; Is Jesus An Historical Figure?; The Authenticity Of The Bible; The Uniformity Of The Bible; Prophecy, The Proof Of Inspiration; Worldviews, Religion And Revelation; Your Spiritual Journey.
His arguments are supported by 65 footnotes, 24 which are easily accessible on the Internet. He also uses direct quotations in the text. For instance, the chapter on archeology quotes a London University professor of Assyriology: “No fact of archeology so far discovered contradicts the biblical records.” And the chapter on biblical authenticity quotes a Princeton Theological Seminary professor of Semitic philology: “After 45 years of scholarly research ... I have come to the conviction that no man knows enough to assail the truthfulness of the Old Testament.”
While the main purpose of this booklet is to verify the Bible as divine truth, it is also written to help the reader discover the Bible’s central message of eternal life through the Savior.
