Which Side Are You On?
Did you ever hear the Bible story about two men who were opposites in every way? The rich man did not have a trouble in the world. He was well dressed, well fed and well housed. The poor beggar, on the other hand, had only scraps to eat, rags to wear and a body full of sores.
However, when they died things really changed. In eternity, the rich man found himself in the flaming torment of hades, while the beggar Lazarus was in paradise. Seeing Lazarus, the rich man begged for him to be sent with some water to “cool his tongue.” But he was told that there was “a great gulf fixed” between them that no one could cross. After death, God places a gap between the saved and lost that can never be bridged – for eternity!
This story in Luke 16:19-31 (NKJV) is not about wealth and poverty. It is really about a relationship with God, which must start in this life!
The rich man’s wealth kept him from God. Is there an obstacle in your life keeping you from God and eternity with Him? If so, Jesus clearly says that now is the time to remove it – before the gap is permanently fixed.
If you were to die right now, on which side of the “great gulf” would you be? Remember, if you do not get on the Lord’s side in this life you cannot do it in the next! “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2).
Jesus Christ is waiting for you to confess your sins and accept His free salvation, which cost Him His life when He died for us on Calvary’s cross. Do not put off this important decision. Accept His offer now so you will be on the Lord’s side of the great gap in eternity! We can tell you how.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).
