A Thanksgiving Prayer
“And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” — 1 Timothy 6:8 NKJV
Lord, we thank You for the blessings that You give to us each day, As we follow in Your footsteps on the straight and narrow way; All we need is food and clothing for our hearts to be content, But You’ve blessed us with abundance to a marvelous extent.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8
We thank You for the blessing of deliverance from sin, And for dying on the cross so sinners could be born again; For showing us our sinfulness and helplessness as well, And for giving us the faith that saves our souls from going to hell.
“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” — Philippians 3:10
Lord, we also want to thank You for the blessings of the soul That accompany salvation as we press on toward the goal Of the knowledge of our Savior and His resurrection’s power, That conforms us to His image more and more each day and hour.
“Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” — Hebrews 11:26
Blessed with all the Spirit’s blessings in this scene of sin and shame, Where the public tends to censor us for mentioning Your name; Help us share the gospel message with a world gone askew, And consider its reproaches blessed fellowship with You.
