Help Comes From The Lord

I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
from this time forth, and even forevermore.

I was struck in this magazine by the various things to which we can relate – matters which we may allow to cause us to lose sleep out of worry or concern. Each one of us could probably name a lengthy list of difficulties that have troubled us, maybe even today. Reading the pages that follow we find the drama of conflict with Satan. We also see situations where we can perceive the personal struggle of facing a person we have wronged, or of being on the other side and having to forgive. Counsel is given concerning anger. Spiritual and physical suffering, subtle insults toward God, deliberate turning from Him, fear of telling others about Christ, and a lack of peace are all brought before us.

Thankfully there is a common answer to all these troubles: the Lord Jesus Christ. Our help comes from the Lord! We see Him and His acts revealed to us in many wonderful ways. He can give to us what we need, and He has provided in Himself an awesome example for us to follow. I fully know this is often easier said than done, but may we always and only look to the Lord, being encouraged and finding the strength we need to go on faithfully for Him, giving Him glory and praise.
