Serving Behind The Scenes
Honoring Two Faithful WorkersServing Behind The ScenesUnnoticed ... Unseen
J. N. Darby defined true greatness this way: “To serve unnoticed, to work unseen.” What better way to describe the work of this magazine’s Editorial Committee! In the metaphor of the theatre, it is serving backstage, out of the limelight and behind the scenes. The Committee members (their names are on the masthead) meet twice a year to pray with and advise the editor and publisher about the many aspects of the editing, publishing and worldwide distribution of Grace & Truth Magazine. Where would we be without their wise counsel? Earlier this year, the Committee reluctantly accepted the resignations of Eugene Vedder and Maurice Muller, two charter members who have served faithfully since the Committee’s inception in 1982. Eugene Vedder
In 1954, Eugene Vedder began serving the Lord as a missionary in the Appalachian Mountains of southeastern United States. He continues to serve as an itinerant preacher in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean Islands. In addition to contributing many articles for this magazine, he assumed responsibility for the You Asked column in 1997, shortly after the tragic death of editor, Grant Steidl. He has also written most of the book reviews since that column began in 1982. Eugene and his wife, Madeline, reside in St. Louis, Missouri. They have five adult children, four of whom are married, and 13 grandchildren. Maurice Muller
Maurice Muller began serving the Lord as a missionary in Cairo, Egypt almost 50 years ago. He served there for 15 years before returning to Canada. Since then he has served in a pastoral ministry of counseling and encouragement, and as advisor and coordinator of an Arabic radio broadcast ministry. Over the years, he has written several articles for Grace & Truth Magazine. Maurice and his wife, Maisey, live and serve in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. They have three adult daughters, two of whom are married, and four grandchildren. Sees ... Rewards
Is the Lord calling you to serve Him in a behind-the-scenes ministry, where your work will most likely be unnoticed by men? If so, remember the Bible says “your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Mt. 6:4,6 NKJV). Do we need any more motivation and encouragement than that? We are thankful that Eugene and Maurice did not. By Larry Ondrejack
