Out Of The Fog Of Fear
Out Of The Fog Of Fear
“Fear covers their hearts like a fog,” said a relief worker about those suffering in Darfur, Sudan. In many lands fear comes from starvation, poverty and violence. For these people the future is frightfully uncertain.
In wealthy countries things appear better, but then change dramatically in a few hours – as the USA discovered on September 11, 2001.
Does wealth give people lifetime security? It neither kept Martha Stewart out of prison, nor Donald Trump out of bankruptcy court last year. And how secure is life itself? The rich die too – of illnesses, accidents, and even terrorist attacks. Wealth can’t remove the fear of death.
But if uncertainty causes fear of dying, what about eternity? Will we spend it in heaven or hell? It’s a question everybody asks sooner or later. And uncertainty about where we’ll spend eternity brings real fear.
Did you know that while many are overwhelmed with fear about where they’ll spend eternity, some are enjoying the certainty of eternity in heaven because of their faith in Jesus Christ? What about you?
There’s no reason to continue living in fearful uncertainty. With Jesus in your life doubt about your eternal destiny is gone. The Bible says, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 Jn. 5:12 NIV). It’s that simple.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life” (Jn. 3:36). Everyone will end up either in heaven or in hell. Which will it be for you?
Deep down you know that you are a sinner, and that sinners deserve hell. Do you know why Jesus died on the cross? The Bible says, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Tim. 1:15). Do you believe this?
Do you want to overcome the fear of hell? Do what the Bible says: “To those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (Jn. 1:12). We can tell you how. It’s the only way to get out of the fog of fear forever!
