God’s Great Salvation
“When the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared ... He saved us.” —Titus 3:4-5 NKJV
God’s Material
God starts with very poor material. Titus 3:3 describes the wretched condition of those whom He saves: “Foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.” This grim list accurately describes every unconverted person.
God’s Motive
We may not understand this, but we can well rejoice in it. He has purposed to show love and kindness to His rebellious creatures by sending His only begotten Son into the world to die for them. At Calvary the Lord Jesus Christ “suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Pet. 3:18).
God’s Method
In Titus 3:5 three things are mentioned: His mercy, the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit. All of these are provided entirely by God. Our own works of righteousness contribute nothing to our salvation, although we must accept this salvation by faith.
God’s Masterpiece
Those whom He justifies by His grace become His heirs (v.7). How wonderful is the Savior God! Is He your Savior? We can tell you more.
