Bethmeon. [Beth-me'on]City of Reuben on the east of the Jordan. Jer. 48:23. Apparently also called BAAL-MEON, BETH-BAAL-MEON, and BEON, Joshua 13:17; Num. 32:3; Num. 32:38 (which says 'their names being changed'); 1 Chr. 5:8. Ezek. 25:9 speaks of it as a city that was 'the glory of the country.' Identified with the ruins at Tell Maain, 31 41' N, 35 44' E.
