Can a believer in Christ be sure that he is really saved, or does it remain a hope without real certainty until the end of life?
Now, the big question is what the Bible says, because faith is not based on human opinions or feelings, but on what God says in His word. And Paul says in 2 Timothy 1:12, "I know whom I have believed." So he had a firm conviction, and he also had no doubt that he would reach the Heavenly destination. And this shows how very clearly there is assurance of salvation.
God wants us to be sure that we have eternal salvation, and that is precisely why John writes in 1 John chapter 5, in verse 13: "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."
And therefore, if you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, then God promises you that you are safe, that your sins are forgiven, and that you have eternal life. And God keeps His promise.
